In this episode I discuss choosing a blogging platform and hosting package. I really focus on WordPress in particular but there are several options, including Blogger, Moveable Type, TypePad, or Tumblr to name a few.
I prefer WordPress because it’s free, it has a great community of users and developers that help provide support and it’s rather simple to use. You can either use WordPress at WordPress.com or download a version at WordPress.org.
I recommend you download WordPress from WordPress.org and install it on your own server. To do this you’ll need a hosting package from a domain hosting service, such as Bluehost. This approach gives you the greatest control and flexibility over the long run.
Adding new posts to your WordPress blog is simple. Just login to your admin panel and add a “New Post” much like you would write an email. Enter the subject and body of the Post and hit “Publish.” If you need to expand the functionality of the blog, there are a number of great plugins available in the WordPress Plugins directory.
